A
note on solder the so-239:
If you purchased your so-239 from a radioshack type store and you
have never soldered before and are using an antenna plan that
requires you solder anything to it, be prepared for an uphill
battle. These have a thin chrome? coating on them and the solder
just will not want to hold. After many attempts it will start to
but this is due to having burned off the coating. This amount of
heat will also start to cause the inner insulation which is made of
plastic to melt. Nothing is more sad than watching your so-239 fall
apart on you. There are some electronic stores out there that sell
more expensive versions of the so-239 that work better and are
friendlier to soldering. With that said, the cheap kind are just
too easy to get ahold of, so its often the road more taken. There
isn't too much of a problem with this, just buy several of them in
case you ruin the first one.
